Google strictly adheres to local alcohol laws and industry standards. As a result, certain kinds of alcohol-related advertising, including both alcohol and drinks resembling alcohol, are not permitted. However, there are exceptions for some types of alcohol-related ads, provided they adhere to their policies, do not target minors, and only target countries where alcohol ads are explicitly allowed.

If you believe your ad was incorrectly disapproved, you can request a review through Google's Disapproved ads and policy questions form.

Alcohol Sale:

Google defines ads promoting the sale of alcoholic beverages as those featuring one or more alcoholic beverages and allowing alcohol purchase on the destination site or app. Advertising for the online sale of alcoholic beverages is allowed in specific countries, subject to certain restrictions. Advertisers must indicate the highest alcohol by volume (ABV) on the landing page for countries allowing such ads.

Alcohol Information:

Google's policies permit brand or informational advertising for alcoholic beverages in certain countries, with restrictions on alcohol volume. Similar to ads promoting alcohol sales, the highest ABV should be indicated on the landing page.

Irresponsible Alcohol Advertising:

Google strictly prohibits irresponsible alcohol-related advertising, including targeting individuals below the legal drinking age, implying alcohol improves social status or provides health benefits, portraying excessive drinking favorably, and showing alcohol consumption in conjunction with the operation of a vehicle or machinery of any kind. Ads containing such content will be disapproved.

Effect of the Policy:

Ads meeting Google's requirements may run with restrictions depending on the country. Ads targeting only countries where alcohol ads are disallowed will be labeled "Disapproved" and won't run. Ads targeting both allowed and disallowed countries will be labeled "Eligible (limited)" and won't run in disallowed countries.

Ad Platform:

Google allows alcohol ads on platforms such as Google Ads, YouTube (with age gate policies), AdMob, and Google Ad Manager, with certain restrictions depending on the platform and ad format.
